Cecil Scott Forester is the pen name of Cecil Smith (August 27 1899 - April 2, 1966), an English novelist who rose to fame sustaining tales of risky venture by owning military themes, notably a 11-book Horatio Hornblower series about naval warfare in a period of the Napoleonic era, and The African Queen (1935; filmed in 1951 by John Huston).
Natural around Cairo, Forester had the complicated early life, including notional parents & the secret marriage. In the period of World War II he moved to a United States where he wrote propaganda to help develop that united states to enter the war on the Allied side, & yet settled within Berkeley, California.
